Left Bank of Bali
Taipei 's " La Rive Gauche ," Bali on the left bank of the Danshuei River has come of age as a weekend getaway from the city. Its rise has been the product of a recent makeover that has replaced the once view-blocking hedges along the riverbank with open grassy areas, boardwalks, bike paths, cafes, and a new museum at the Shihsanhang Archaeological Site by the river mouth.

The Left Bank of Bali scenic route extends 2.4 kilometers from the Danshuei Ferry Wharf to the Shihsanhang Museum of Archeology . This route is connected by a quick ferry ride and a riverside walkway bringing cyclists and walkers to the various scenic attractions at the Danshuei estuary.

The bikeway weaves through lush grassy areas that are open to the refreshing air blowing in from the river. It sets out from the ferry pier area, where visitors can sample Bali 's famous green mussels and "Double Sister" donuts.

Bali does not stint on ecological sights, and one of the most notable is the mangrove forest of the Wazihwei Nature Reserve. To enjoy the ocean breeze, continue down the path to the Sea View Pier or the Horizon & Sea Viewing Area. The beach here is a good spot to relax and lull away your stress with the rise and ebb of the waves and setting sun.

Of course no trip to Bali is complete without a visit to the Shihsanhang Cultural Park and Museum of Archeology . Apart from the fascinating exhibits inside, the award-winning design of the museum is also a sight to behold.

Make sure to stop at the Left Bank Hostel in the middle of Left Bank Park to enjoy the river view over a cup of coffee. The Left Bank Theater, also located nearby, occasionally presents performances, adding a cultural note to your trip across the Danshuei River .
