Haomei Village Nature Reserve is located at the western end of Chiayi County Highway 163, and is designed to protect an offshore sandbar, lagoon, coastal windbreak forests, and mangrove forests.
The nature preserve is home to a great variety of ecological landscapes. The sandbar gives purchase to coastal vegetation that flourishes in sandy areas; the lagoon contains abundant resources of fish, shrimp, crabs, and shellfish, which attract countless numbers of foraging birds; and the six-hectare mangrove forest mixes several different mangrove species. This rich variety of plant and animal life makes Haomei Village Nature Reserve your best place for ecological observation.
