Xiakaluo Historic Trail extends across Wufeng, Jianshi in Hsinchu County. Along the Historic Trail, there are a large number of spots for observation of maple leaves, a major attraction in autumn.

During the Japanese occupation, the Japanese were present in the mountain area through the Historic Trail and artillery posts and police stations were erected, so were garrison roads. The effort was to control the area with force and the move made the Xiakaluo Historic Trail, a major access road by then, fade. Remains available by the trail are the Baishi Police Station, Tiencuntai Police Station and Shilu Police Station. A makeshift hunting hut and the Dashan Artillery Post are found in front of the Xiakaluo Mountain as silent witness to the heated and brave anti-Japanese stories.
