Central Taiwan is not only blessed with striking mountains and lakes, but is also rich in hot-springs resources. The best known of these springs are at Guguan, Dongpu, and Wanda.
The Guguan hot springs are located in Bo'-ai Village, Heping District, Taichung City; they were first developed during the period of Japanese occupation (1895-1945), when they won a reputation as the "Meiji Hot Springs." The bicarbonate water here is good for bathing. People go to Guguan not only for the hot springs but also to enjoy the nearby Dragon Valley Nature Park. In addition, alpinists can also climb Mt. Polujia and Mt. Jiabaotai.
