Three-day Tour of Jiaoxi/Su'ao Hot Springs

Yilan County is not just a land of beautiful natural scenery but also possesses abundant hot springs resources. The hot springs of Jiaoxi are rare flatland--springs that produce sodium bicarbonate water containing calcium and potassium. The mineral water is clear and odorless, and it gushes from the ground at a temperature of 58 degrees Celsius, and after bathing it leaves your skin feeling smooth and supple without being sticky at all. The local residents also use the mineral water for growing crops, raising fish, and producing mineral-water vegetables--water spinach, water oats, loofah gourds--that are unique in Taiwan.

If you have a taste for seafood you can go on to the Nanfang'ao fishing harbor, where there are three fishing ports and fish markets, each with its own function. The fishermen's association holds an auction at the first fish market every day at about 2:00 p.m., while at the second fish market the individual fishermen sell their own catch from about 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Yugang Road, alongside the third fishing harbor, is filled with seafood and special product shops, giving it a strong attraction for tourists.
