With a population of 20,000 the town of Chenggong is the largest community between Hualien and Taitung cities and is also the location of the largest fish market in this area. Every day between three and four o' clock in the afternoon, to Chenggong harbor after spending the previous day at sea. The day's catch in unloaded, after which and auction takes place. The hustle and bustle, color and noise generated by the fishermen and their buyers makes an exciting and memorable sight and one which the visitor should make every effort to experience.
The town abounds with seafood restaurants selling the freshest fish you are likely to try anywhere and there is ample hotel accommodation available for those who wish to spend more time exploring the town and the surrounding area.

By Car: Provincial Highway Route 2 → Provincial Highway Route 9 → Provincial Highway Route 11.
THSR: Take the THSR to Zuoying Station, then take a train to New Taitung Railway Station. And take Dingdong Bus (Coast Line) in front of the station to Xingang Bus Station.
