The Northeast Coast of Taiwan is a wonderland of strange and awesome rock formations, majestic sea-eroded terrain, fine golden-sand beaches, and rich oceanic ecology. This is the perfect place for coastal recreation, with opportunities for snorkeling and scuba diving, rock fishing, swimming, sunbathing, yachting, surfing, and a wide range of other activities.

Longdong Bay Park: The clear water and a rich ecology here make this an excellent place for snorkeling and scuba diving in the undersea world. About 80 different species of fish bring color and life to the sea in the Longdong area; and if you are not satisfied with just looking, remember that the gathering of fish here makes this a good place for rock fishermen trying their skill.

Longdong South Ocean Park: This is the first outdoor learning center in Taiwan to combine the functions of recreation and education in a marina, seawater swimming pools, and oceanic exhibition hall. Here you can enjoy a diversity of water activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and observing the ocean ecology.

Yanliao Seaside Park: The golden beach here extends three kilometers to Fulong and is the longest in Taiwan. The park is perfect for swimming, sand sculpting, beach volleyball playing, beach fishing, and other recreational activities.

Fulong Beach: This beach offers the best of river and sea scenery. The broad surface and calm flow of the river make it a fine location for windsurfing, canoeing, and other non-motorized water activities, In addition, the beach is great for swimming, sunbathing, and other beach activities including sand sculpting, beach volleyball, beach soccer, and Frisbee playing. Here you can also hide your entire body in the sand and enjoy a baking "sand bath," or you can bathe in the sun--after covering yourself with sun-block, of course.

In addition to the activities mentioned above, good skin diving is also available at Nanya, Bitou Cape, Hemei, Mao'ao, Sandiao Cape, and Lailai. Lailai and Yinggeshi are fine areas for rock fishing because of their broad sea-eroded platforms, cuesta ridges, and pebble beach. This area provides not only outstanding vistas but also worry-free footing for fishermen. Honeymoon Bay at Daxi is an outstanding site for surfing, and this is where national surfing contests are held every year.
