Tianchi marks the midpoint of the Southern Cross-Island Highway. At Tianchi you can visit a shrine, which was built to commemorate the veterans and workers who died building the highway. From here you have also splendid views of Yushan South Peak and the southern part of the Central Mountain Range. About 6 kilometers from the shrine along the highway you will come to a place called Kuaigu, one of the most important natural forests along the Southern Cross-Island Highway.

Car: From the North: Take Nat'l Hwy. 3 and exit at the Guantian Interchange Expressway 84 → Yujing → Prov. Hwy 20 → Jiaxian → Baolai → Taoyuan → Meishan → Yushan Tianchi → Kuaigu.
From the South 1: Take Nat'l Hwy. 8 and exit at the Xinhua Interchange → Prov. Hwy. 20 → Jiasian → Baolai → Taoyuan → Meishan → Yushan Tianchi → Kuaigu.
From the South 2: Take Nat'l Hwy. 10 and exit at the Qishan Interchange → Prov. Hwy 21 → Jiaxian → Prov. Hwy. 20 → Baolai → Taoyuan → Meishan → Yushan Tianchi → Kuaigu.
From the East: Prov. Hwy. 9 → Chishang or Guanshan → Prov. Hwy 20 → Wulu → Lidao → Xiangyang → Yakou → Kuaigu → Yushan Tianchi.
THSR: Take the THSR to Zuoying Station, transfer to the bus. ZuoyingStation Tourist Attractions
Bus: From Kaohsiung Train Station: Take the Kaohsiung Bus (Kaohsiung-Meishankou Line) to the last stop, transfer to the taxi to Southern Cross-Island Highway's east part. You can also take the Kaohsiung Bus (Kaohsiung-Liugui Line) to Liugui and continue on the Liugui-Meishankou Line to the last stop and transfer to the taxi.
