The good soil and fine weather here, with long hours of sunshine, make this the best area in the East Rift Valley for growing tea. The tea produced here has an extraordinarily fine flavor and the surrounding area is full of scenic beauties that are visible in the panoramic expanse of land below the plateau. A number of home-stay facilities are scattered among the tea fields. The plateau is also the site of a paragliding base at the southern end of the tourist tea plantation area; the base is 150 meters above the plain below, and its fine geographic conditions and good weather make it one of Taiwan's favorite spots for paragliding.

By Car: 1. National Freeway No.5 → Through Syueshan tunnel → Exit at the Suao Interchange → Provincial Highway Route 9 → Taitung City → Follow the signs to Gaotai.
2. National Freeway No.3 → Nangang System Interchange → National Freeway No.5 → Through Syueshan tunnel → Exit at the Suao Interchange → Provincial Highway Route 9 → Taitung City → Follow the signs to Gaotai.
THSR: Take the THSR to Zuoying Station, transfer to the train and get off at Taitung Railway Station. Take Dingdong Bus in front of the Station, then get off at Dingdong Bus Mountain Line Terminal Station.
