    Catering to its Australian readers, Business Insider selected “The Top 10 Destinations for Aussies 2016,” and Taipei is in the third place. It says that Taiwan has the most delicious food in Asia. People are well educated and the overall environment is safe. Spring flowers, Sun Moon Lake and its surrounding temples, and tea houses and night markets in Jiufen are especially worth a visit.

    According to Esquire, the best-selling men’s boutique magazine throughout the world’s English-speaking regions, Taiwan is a refined society with a unique food culture. In this special feature on Taiwan, the author visited a number of renowned restaurants such as Shin Yeh (which serves authentic Taiwanese food including steamed buns with pork), Ding Tai Fung, and Ji Yuan (known for chicken soup), other than going to Raohe Night Market for rice with stewed pork shreds, oyster egg rolls and beef noodles.

    Eslite Bookstore’s Dunnan Branch in Taipei is on CNN”s list of the “World’s Coolest Bookstores.” It was in 1999 that Eslite decided to keep this branch open around the clock, making it the first bookstore in Taiwan to do so. A spacious bookstore covering 17,000 square meters of floor space, Eslite’s Dunnan Branch is most famous for its foreign language books and magazines.

    On the “MasterCard Worldwide Index of Global Destination Cities,” Taipei ranks No. 16 with 6.55 million international visitors annually. In fact, for four years in a row, Taipei has been among the top 20 of the 132 tourist cities around the world, and its number of visitors increases the most, at 14.9% per year between 2009 and 2015, followed by Tokyo (14.6%), Bangkok (11.7%) and Seoul (11.4%). As to the money spent by international visitors, Taipei ranks No. 11 with US$ 9.28 billion – in this regard, it has remained the champion in the greater Chinese region for five years.

    Just not long ago, on its Facebook fanpage, CNN held a voting for the destination that has the world’s best food. As a result, Taiwan won the most votes (8,242). CNN then used a picture of beef noodles to explain the variety of delicious street food served in Taiwan, and noted that there are more than 20 major food streets on the island, with Tainan being the “city of street food.” This picture leads the online readers to another feature story which introduces 45 kinds of Taiwan’s street food in detail, including rice with stewed pork shreds and bubble tea with milk. Following Taiwan are the Philippines with 1,528 votes, Italy, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Greece and Vietnam.
