ITB Berlin (International Tourism Fair) was held from March 8 to 12, 2017 at the Messe Berlin, Germany. More than 10,000 exhibitors from 187 countries and regions of the globe’s five continents participated in this event. An estimated 120,000 buyers swarmed in, aside from 180,000 visitors. Transactions totaled 700 million Euro, making ITB Berlin the world’s largest tourism trade show. “Multi-channel marketing on a global scale” being its strategy, the Tourism Bureau invited Taiwan’s tourism companies to team up at ITB Berlin to promote fascinating Taiwan.
This year, eco-tourism and green tourism being its themes, the Taiwan Hall introduces mountaineering, hiking, cycling and railway travel in Taiwan to visitors, with a slogan that says “Taiwan – the Heart of Asia.” Three promotional ads, Taiwan - The Heart of Asia, Time for TAIWAN-My Beautiful Island and Taiwan Cycle Festival--KOM Challenge respectively won five stars (first prize) in music, four stars (second prize) in eco-tourism, and three stars (third prize) in eco events, from ITB’s music and video competition. This proves that the promotional ads produced by the Tourism Bureau are worth some international acknowledgements.
