The 6-day Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) is a readers’ carnival launched by the Ministry of Culture in 1987, and attracting over 500,000 visitors each winter vacation.

A leading book expo in Asia, TIBE takes place at TWTC Exhibition Halls 1 and 3 every year to simultaneously promote cross-border exchanges, professional publishing, and reading as a lifestyle. It started granting free admission to people under the age of 18 to hopefully instill in teenagers good reading habits and a sense of cultural sophistication.

Featuring over 1 million intellectually challenging volumes from 653 publishers and 67 countries, TIBE 2015 brought more than 400 authors, children’s book writers and illustrators together with fans during 1,000-odd book launch parties and seminars, among a mind-boggling array of programs that encouraged diversified reading.

Israel, the 2018 Guest of Honor, will showcase interesting publications and cultural events. We invite you to learn and be inspired by Israel’s cultural strengths, whose people believe firmly in “reading is key to success,” an echo of our theme for 2018: “The Power of Reading.”
