Taiwan Opens First Tourism Information Center in Seattle to Strengthen U.S. Outreach

Date:Jun 18, 2025 Number of Visitors:241

SEATTLE, WA – June 16, 2025 — Taiwan’s Tourism Administration under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications officially launched its first Taiwan Tourism Information Center (TTIC) in Seattle on June 13, 2025, marking a major step in expanding Taiwan’s tourism footprint in North America. The new center, located in the heart of downtown Seattle at Two Union Square, aims to boost travel ties, cultural exchange, and visitor engagement between Taiwan and the Pacific Northwest.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together Director General Daniel K.C. Chen of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle, Director Ben Huang of the International Affairs Division of the Taiwan Tourism Administration, Secretary General Yi-Ning Chung of the Taiwan Visitors Association, and regional directors from Taiwan’s San Francisco and Los Angeles tourism offices. Representatives from major airlines and key U.S. travel partners were also in attendance.

With nearly 190 weekly direct flights between Taiwan and major North American cities, Taiwan’s connectivity to the U.S. continues to grow. Among these, Seattle has become a key aviation hub, with notable route expansion from EVA Air, China Airlines, STARLUX Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, significantly improving access for American travelers.
“The TTIC opening marks a new chapter in our bilateral engagement,” said Director General Chen. “It’s more than a physical office — it’s a symbolic gateway that invites the Pacific Northwest to discover the wonders of Taiwan.” Chen, who is concluding his tenure in Seattle, expressed his gratitude to the Taiwan Tourism Administration for making the center possible. “Seattle is one of the most important gateways from the U.S. to Asia,” added Director Huang. “With direct flights increasing fourfold in just one year, it’s now easier than ever for U.S. travelers to explore Taiwan’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and vibrant city life.”

Following the opening, a Taiwan Tourism Promotion Forum was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle, convening local travel professionals, media, and influencers for networking, destination education, and partnership building.

To further engage American audiences, TTIC Seattle will roll out a series of high-impact campaigns over the coming year. In August, the “Two Days Taiwan Immersive Festival” will bring a vibrant night market experience to the heart of Seattle. September will feature “Hey Hey Taipei,” a creative airport installation that promotes Taipei as a top transfer hub. In partnership with Expedia, a nationwide digital campaign will launch in October and return in March 2026, offering special travel deals to Taiwan. In May, Taiwan will be featured at the Denver Marathon, reinforcing the island’s appeal as a destination for outdoor and wellness travel. Then in June, TTIC will also take part in the Seattle Pride Parade to highlight Taiwan’s inclusive and progressive values.
