World Bird Fair 2025 Taiwan, hosted by the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) and organized by the Tri-mountain National Scenic Area Headquarters (NSAH) will be held in Taichung from September 20-21. On July 14th the Tri-mountain NSAH held a press conference at the Botanical Garden of the National Museum of Natural Science (NMNS). They invited the public to attend the bird fair on September 20-21, which will be held at Taichung Civic Square. The public was welcomed to dress up in bird costumes and participate in a bird costume show held on August 9th at the NMNS. The event was called "Fly with you, gorgeous transformation,” and also included face painting. Visitors demonstrated their creativity and enjoyed birdwatching. The Tri-mountain NSAH said that the World Bird Fair will attract birdwatchers from over 30 countries and regions to Taiwan. It will combine ecology, tourism, education and creativity, including international eco forums, ecotourism booths from many countries, and on-site birdwatching experiences in Daxueshan National Forest. The event will also feature exciting activities such as bird-themed face painting and a lucky draw for stamp booklets provided by Chunghwa Post.
The World Bird Fair is being hosted by the Tourism Administration, MOTC; the National Parks Service, Ministry of the Interior; the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Ministry of Agriculture; and the Taichung City Government. This inter-agency initiative works to support Taiwan tourism. Under the theme "The beauty of wings gathers in Taiwan," the event showcases Taiwan's rich bird ecology. Over 51 ecological associations from over 30 countries, along with bird clubs and conservation organizations from around Taiwan are participating in the event. It integrates ecology, tourism, education, and creativity. Activities include an international ecological forum, ecotourism booths from various countries, and a visit to Daxueshan to observe the ecology related to some of Taiwan’s 31 endemic bird species. From September 20-21, the bird fair will feature a creative highlight, the "Fly with you, gorgeous transformation " bird costume competition. The Tri-mountain NSAH invites everyone to become bird ambassadors, encouraging them to design and create bird-shaped costumes using renewable materials. The bird costume show will be shared with international audiences, showcasing Taiwan's commitment to ecological conservation and promoting the joy of birdwatching ecotourism. Tri-mountain NSAH Deputy Director Xi-Biao Liao noted that the Taichung Branch of Chunghwa Post has designed special commemorative stamps for the bird fair. A limited number of items will be given away at Taichung Civic Square on September 20-21. Collecting stamps from five continents and 12 booths will earn you an Oh Bear badge and a chance to win over 100 prizes. The stamp collection book also includes a NT$9 postcard, a very collectible item. A temporary post office will be set up to provide gift envelopes and limited-edition postmarks, making it a must-see for stamp enthusiasts. The Tri-mountain NSAH also announced a lively costume party at Taichung Civic Square on September 20th. The first 50 participants dressed in bird-themed costumes will receive a gift pack of outdoor gear valued at NT$1,000, including a sun hat, shoulder bag, eco-friendly cutlery, waterproof luggage stickers, lightweight folding chairs, and other birdwatching accessories. During the fair, participants who complete designated stamp collection tasks will be able to redeem these for limited-edition Oh Bear badges and a chance to win prizes worth over NT$100,000, including an Apple Watch SE and a pair of binoculars. The "Spread Your Wings and Soar" press conference took place on July 14th. Twenty children from the Seasons Arts Education Institute dressed in bird costumes and launched bird-shaped paper airplanes together to announce the Bird Costume Contest. Registration for the contest is open through August 15th. Participants must submit three costume photos and a design brief to the event email address (2025wbf.a2@gmail.com). Finalists will be announced on the World Bird Fair website and the Tri-mountain NSAH Facebook page on August 25th. Online voting will run from August 26th to September 5th. The final results will be announced on September 8th, and an awards ceremony and fashion show will be held at the Bird Fair at Expo Citizen Square on September 20th.
