Huayu Lighthouse was built in 1939 on Huayu in Penghu County. Its cylindrical white tower is made of reinforced concrete and rises 12.5 meters. The lighthouse sits atop a 53-meter high peak, the island's highest point. It is also Taiwan's westernmost lighthouse and a major local landmark, known as the "Light of Huayu."
