Neidong National Forest Recreation Area was established in 1984. It is located in Wulai, Taipei, and is also known as Wawagu. It has the best conserved ecology in northern Taipei. The magnificent mountainous scenery and canyons are connected with Wulai. There are many waterfalls in the park and the most famous is Xinxian Waterfall, which has 3 levels. Along the tour track, visitors can enjoy the dense forests, the birds and the butterflies. Flora and fauna in the park are conserved very well. In addition, the park has different views in different times of the year and is worthy to visit.
Nanshi River runs across the Neidong National Forest Recreation Area and in the south there is Neidong River. The rivers form many waterfalls in the park. The most famous is the 3-level Xinxian Waterfall, which presents a grand spectacle. The rail-cart, which was used for transporting timber, is now a tourist attraction. The distance between Lansheng Bridge to Wulai Waterfall is 1.6 km and it takes about 3-5 minutes on a rail-cart to finish the trip.
