Northern Taiwan

The "Northern Region" encompasses seven cities and counties: Taipei City, New Taipei City, Keelung City, Yilan County, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, and Hsinchu City, combining urban vibrancy with natural landscapes. Taipei 101 offers panoramic city views, while its various night markets offer popular snacks like bubble tea, xiaolongbao (savory dumplings), and fried chicken cutlets. The National Palace Museum boasts a rich collection of historical artifacts, and is well worth exploring. Keelung features the Miaokou Night Market and the Heping Island coastline, showcasing its port city charm. New Taipei City's towns of Jiufen, Tamsui, Yingge, and Sanxia have “old streets” that retain a nostalgic and cultural atmosphere; the Nanya Rocks on the Northeast Coast and the Yehliu Geopark on the North Coast present unique natural landscapes of strangely shaped rocks; Yangmingshan National Park boasts magnificent volcanic terrain and beautiful flower fields. Northern Taiwan’s charming and diverse attractions also include Yilan's hot springs and coastline, Taoyuan's Daxi Old Street and Shimen Reservoir, and Hsinchu's technology park and Hakka settlements. These sites offer a combination of nature, culture, and leisure activities.
