To further enhance travel convenience in Taiwan, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (MOTC) announced today (April 10) an upgraded Taiwan PASS along with three brand-new editions, expanding travel options for independent travelers. As a special promotion, a limited-time “Buy One, Get One Free” offer is also being launched, allowing travelers to explore Taiwan’s top attractions at an unbeatable price.
Since 2024, Taiwan PASS has integrated Taiwan High-Speed Rail (THSR), Taiwan Railways (TRA), the four major metro systems, and four popular Taiwan Tourist Shuttle routes. The existing THSR Edition (exclusive for international travelers) and TRA Edition (available for both domestic and international travelers) have been widely welcomed. This latest upgrade enhances the QR code boarding function for the Sun Moon Lake and Alishan shuttle routes, adds the Yilan Tourist Shuttle 3-Day Pass, and increases flexibility for multi-destination travel. Notably, it now includes a one-way ticket for the Alishan Forest Railway, making it easier for visitors to explore Alishan—recently named one of The New York Times’ “52 Places to Go in 2025.”
Introducing Three New Taiwan PASS Editions
The HSR and TRA Scenic Editions bundle transportation with 14 must-visit attractions, including the Yilan National Center for Traditional Arts, Yehliu Geopark on the North Coast, the National Palace Museum (North Branch), Taipei Zoo, Miramar Ferris Wheel, National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung, Cingjing Farm, Sun Moon Lake boat tour, Alishan Forest Recreation Area, the National Palace Museum (South Branch), Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art Center, Hamasen, Love River Solar-powered Boat, and Kenting National Forest Recreation Area.
Meanwhile, the Taiwan PASS Easy Go Edition, is priced at NT$1,900 and is designed to complement the "Taiwan Top 100 Attractions" initiative. Building on the existing integration of metro systems and Taiwan Tour Bus routes, it also includes a Taiwan Railways three-day pass, a one-way ticket for the Alishan Forest Railway main line (including admission to Alishan National Forest Recreation Area), a one-day pass for the Alishan Forest Railway branch line, and a rental car voucher. This combination offers travelers greater flexibility in local transportation, making it easier to explore Taiwan's top 100 attractions.
Director-General Chou Yung-hui of the Taiwan Tourism Administration emphasized that Taiwan has continuously introduced various Taiwan PASS editions by integrating the country's major transportation networks to enhance travel convenience. Since its launch last year, approximately 25,000 passes have been sold, earning widespread popularity among domestic and international travelers. In response to the growing demand for short domestic trips and visits to popular attractions, three new products have been introduced to make traveling in Taiwan even more accessible and enjoyable.
The three new editions will go on sale at 10:00 AM on April 10, 2025, with a limited-time “Buy One, Get One Free” offer:
This promotion is available only while supplies last.
With this latest upgrade, Taiwan PASS aims to further boost Taiwan’s tourism industry by offering a wider range of travel options, allowing visitors to explore the island more conveniently and in greater depth. For further details, visit the official Taiwan PASS website.
