This Japanese colonial era building has a very elegant style. It is well-preserved because it was built using hardy local Formosan red cypress wood. It was originally the only police guesthouse in an indigenous tribal area in the whole of Taiwan and was used as accommodation for visiting officials. After 1945, it was used for a time as the official residence of the county chief and was renovated a few years ago. Visitors to the area shouldn't miss this historic building.
