Bitou Cape Trail

Collect Breathtaking Scenery of Boundless Sea and Sky. Endless lush green mountain ridges and brown meandering trails, accompanied by blue sky, white clouds, and azure ocean, the scenery here at Bitoujiao Trail is just as beautiful as a painting – and the Trail has already become one of the photography hot spots in northern Taiwan. Along the Trail, visitors would be able to appreciate the grand sceneries of mountains, ocean, bay, and cape, as well as fantastical sea-eroded terrains, magnificent ocean waves lapping the shore, and beautiful and flourishing beach plants. Further, the high vantage point offers a 360-degree view overlooking the whole Northeast Coast, a spectacular wonder of boundless sea and sky.

Longdong Cape Trail

The name Longdong is originated from the local seashore rocks bending in an arc resembling a giant dragon occupying the land. The bay cape trail connects two major capes in Northeast, and it also links up stories from two different times and spaces – one from Bitoujiao of 6 million years and the other from Longdong Cape of 35 million years of history.

Caoling Historic Trail

Caoling Historic Trail, with a total distance of 8.5km, is an extremely popular mountain trail in Northeast Coast, and it is located in between Yuanwangkeng of New Taipei City and Dali of Yilan. In the early days, it was a pathway that people traveling between Taipei and Yilan would all have to travel through; and it is also the only portion of the Tamsui-Kavalan Trail that still remains today.
Along the Historic Trail, one would find broadleaved evergreen forests, cultured conifers, and tree ferns unique to subtropical rainforests. Following the gentle slope, visitors would pass by the humanistic and cultural ruins of the ancient looking "Horse Falling to Death" Bridge, Xianjiyan, and the Level 3 Historic Sites - "Xiong Zhen Man Yan" Tablet and Tiger Tablet.

Wushi Harbor

The name "Wushi" is originated from the gigantic black reef rock within the Harbor. In addition to serving the traditional fishing industry, this fishing harbor at the small town of Toucheng is also significant for its historical and cultural values. It used to be the largest harbor in Yilan and an important gateway for Toucheng – many merchants and all kinds of daily necessities were all transported in and out of town via the Harbor. "Prosperous Sails at Shi Harbor" was a saying that was used to describe the packed merchant ships and bustling ship traffics at that time.
Wushi Harbor offers flat and vast beach and a designated area of spacious surfing section. On weekends and holidays, water sports enthusiasts would gather here as they chase and move about amidst the ocean waves.

Guishan Island

Guishan Island is 10 kilometers east of Toucheng Township and it is the largest island of Yilan County. Guishan Island is also the only active volcano in Taiwan and is the only island with residents in Yilan. Not only is the landmark of Yilan, Guishan Island also an emblem of Yilan spirit. Guishan Island, as known as Guishan Yu, got its name because its shape resembles a turtle. In 1999, the government abolished the martial laws and Yilan government began to petition for making Guishan Island a tourist attraction. In 1999, the government designated Guishan Island to be part the Northeastern Coastal Tourist District. In order to preserve the natural environment, the number of tourists is controlled. With the growing popularity of whale watching, Guishan Island has become the hottest tourist attraction.

Paoma Historic Trail

The trail is located on the border between Pinglin District of New Taipei City and Toucheng Town and Jiaoxi Township in Yilan County, beginning from Shipai, the highest point of Beiyi Highway (around the 59km mark), running down the Houdongkengxi River Valley to the Wuqifeng Scenic Area. The total distance is about 6.7km. It can be divided into three sections: from the north end of the ancient trail (Shipai) to Shangxin Garden, about 2km; from Shangxin Garden to the north end of the ancient trail, about 3.1km, the best and most popular section; and from the south end of the ancient trail to Wufeng Road, about 1.6km. Skids and skidways in perfect condition can be seen along the trail. From the trail, the entire Jiaoxi Township and the Beiyi Highway meandering through the fields can be seen clearly.

Wufengqi Scenic Area

The Wufengqi Falls are one of the eight great scenic spots of the Lanyang Plains, belonging to Jiaoxi Township in Yilan County. The Wufengqi Falls are named for the five sharp peaks which stand in a row behind the falls, that look like the five triangular banners that usually hang down the back of the war generals costume in Chinese Opera. Fog and mist drift gracefully around the mountaintop year-long, and torrents of mountain springs continuously flow down its slopes, forming the three layers of cascades that are now the Wufengqi Falls.
