Cycling Route

Taiwan actively develops its bicycle-friendly environment. The government has created the Cycling Route No.1 around the island and multiple routes around the island in various sections so that domestic and foreign riders can use bicycles to travel and explore the beauty of Taiwan in depth.

  • Cycling Route No.1
    With a total length of 960.8 kilometers, the Cycling Route No.1 has rest stations every 20 kilometers along the bikeway. It takes about nine days to ride around Taiwan.
  • Branch Routes and Circular Routes
    Branch routes which are planned to connect well-known Taiwan travel attractions such as Nantou Sun Moon Lake, Tainan Chi Mei Museum and the Southern Branch of National Palace Museum.

Diverse Themed Routes

The Tourism Administration has actively developed 16 diverse cycling routes across the country. These have themes such as coastal, riverside, mountain, hillside, rural, and outlying islands. The routes encourage riders to follow their personal interests, ride at a relaxed pace, and savor the beauty of Taiwan. The aim is to connect local points of interest while promoting cycling culture and low-carbon tourism.

Regional Leisure Routes

Recreational cycling routes span all of Taiwan counties and cities. They cover diverse environments, such as riverside, forest belts, and wetlands, and provide a safe and friendly riding experience. The scenery along these routes is refreshing and pleasant, allowing you to appreciate the surrounding natural landscapes and local features at a relaxed pace. The routes are suitable as experiential activities during your trip, and have family-friendly options. The latter offer a lighter riding experience, allowing both first-timers and those who prefer a more relaxed pace to freely explore the charm of different regions.
