Taiwan Tourism Administration launches the “Enter Taiwan, Enjoy a Gift!” campaign to encourage international transit passengers to enter Taiwan and experience its charm

Date:Oct 31, 2025 Number of Visitors:142

To promote the experience of Taiwan’s beauty among transit travelers at Taoyuan International Airport, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA), Ministry of Transportation and Communications, will launch the “Enter Taiwan, Enjoy a Gift!” campaign starting on November 1, 2025. Travelers holding a non–Republic of China (Taiwan) passport who transit through Taoyuan International Airport and enter Taiwan for a stay of up to 24 hours during their layover will receive a gift voucher worth NT$600. This initiative allows transit passengers to experience Taiwan’s warmth and convenience during their short stopover.

The campaign will open for online registration at 12:00 PM on November 1, 2025, and will run until October 31, 2026. Specifically designed for transit travelers, the campaign offers tangible incentives that encourage international visitors to explore the airport's unique shops and enjoy Taiwanese delicacies during their layovers. Through this effort, the Tourism Administration aims to enhance Taiwan's international visibility and attract return visits from transit passengers.

Participation is simple. Travelers can register their basic information on the campaign website. Upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport, they can present their passport and onward international boarding pass at the Taiwan Tourism Administration's Visitor Service Centers (located in Terminal 1 or Terminal 2) to receive an NT$600 shopping voucher. The voucher is valid at participating merchants within the airport, including restaurants, duty-free stores, souvenir shops, and other retail services. A list of participating merchants is available on the campaign website for easy reference.

Taiwan's geographical location makes it a key transit hub in Asia, and many airlines are increasing their Taiwan-bound routes and frequencies. Notably, Emirates will operate two daily flights on the Dubai–Taipei route starting August 2025, and Etihad Airways will launch its new Abu Dhabi–Taipei direct route on September 8, 2025. These routes will attract travelers from the Middle East, Europe, and other regions, enhancing Taiwan’s role as a transit hub.

As Taiwan’s major international gateway, Taoyuan International Airport sees a large number of transit passengers. Through this voucher campaign, the Tourism Administration hopes to encourage more international travelers to use their layover time to experience Taiwan’s food, culture, and airport amenities. The campaign also aims to stimulate business growth among airport merchants and foster the diversified development of Taiwan’s tourism economy.

Looking ahead, the Taiwan Tourism Administration will continue working with Taoyuan International Airport Corporation, airlines, and other partners to introduce more incentives and promotional efforts for transit passengers. These initiatives will encourage visitors to stay longer and explore Taiwan, boosting tourist arrivals and spending, enhancing Taiwan’s image as a warm, convenient, and enjoyable international transit hub, and ultimately transforming Taiwan from a “transit point” into a “travel destination.”
