The legendary golfer Arnold Palmer has been dedicated to course design after retiring from his professional career. Among his classic works are the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando and The K Club in Ireland, etc. Taiwan boasts two Palmer designs—Formosa Yangmei and Formosa First—thanks to the president of Formosa Group Tseng Chun-yi, who went to the United States and persuaded him to create the two gems in Taiwan. It is not a surprise that the two courses are regarded as part of the most precious assets for Formosa Group International.
Formosa Yangmei is a typical American-style hilly layout. Situated in a hillside area in Yangmei, Taoyuan, the course boasts an open view and smart plotting of undulations and turns. Due to the significant number of downward holes and doglegs along with elaborately-placed sand traps and water hazards by Palmer, good distance control and course strategy are required to overcome this legendary course in Taiwan.
