Designed by the prestigious Japanese course designer Hiroshi Watanabe, Chang Gung Golf Club was established by Wang Yung-ching, the founder of Formosa Plastics Group, and his brother Wang Yung-tsai in memory of their father Wang Chang-gung. As one of the oldest golf courses in Taiwan, Chang Gung Golf Club is also one of the most established layouts in Taiwan thanks to the Japan-Taiwan collaboration and its quality management.
Opened in 1980, Chang Gung Golf Club covers an area of about 116 hectares with 27 holes separated into three nines: Northern Course, Central Course, and Southern Course. The layout is situated on the moderately hilly Linkou Plateau and the fairways are fairly broad with reasonable variations. Tens of thousands of trees of different species are planted in and around the course to add more charm to the design. Also worth mentioning is the white Yung-tsai Bridge recently built in memory of Wang Yung-tsai, who was an avid golf lover before he died in 2014.
