Situated on the Linkou Plateau at the border between Luzhu of Taoyuan and Linkou of New Taipei City, Formosa First Golf Club is easily accessible thanks to its convenient location just half an hour from downtown Taipei and Taoyuan International Airport.
In order to build an international golf course for Taiwan, the president of Formosa Group International Tseng Jun-yi went to the United States and invited the legendary Arnold Palmer to design the Formosa First Golf Club, and this “Palmer design” has been one of the best known features of the course. Palmer makes the best use of the rugged, rolling terrain for two 18-hole tracks called Arnold and Palmer. The Arnold track measures 6,793 yards and Palmer 6,771 yards. Playing on both tracks demands full attention for each shot. Golfers have to be cautious to the terrestrial elevations, dramatically twisted fairways, and the strategically-placed bunkers and waters designed by the legendary golfer. Especially intriguing are some short holes which run across the valley. The finishing hole behind the clubhouse features a red-colored Chinese arch-bridge and lush grass. The beautiful shadows of coconut trees on the streams and lakes are particularly charming, making a relaxing and soothing vista!
