Situated on a highly undulating terrain in Datsun, Changhua, Taifong Golf Course is one of the investment projects of Lin Yu-chia, the former president of Taiwan Glass. The 18-hole track was carved out of the natural topography by the renowned Japanese course designer Hiroshi Watanabe. Each hole is full of personality with a variety of challenges, and the TifEagle turf further increases the speed on the green, making the course a grueling test.
Taifong Golf Course has undergone several major renovations since 2001 after Lin Po-shih, the second generation of Taiwan Glass, took over the course. Nowadays Taifong Golf Course is a championship course where various international events are held. Its clubhouse is another innovation. The president Lin invited Alvaro Siza, a Pritzker Architecture Prize winning Portuguese architect, to build this novel clubhouse for Taifong. Mainly constructed with fair-faced concrete finish, the building witnesses a successful blend of contemporary minimalist architecture and the game.
