Opened on March 5, 1995, Chia Nan Golf Country Club has a beautiful layout covering a hilly area of 75 hectares in the east of the Jia Nan Plain. Designed by the renowned American design company Willard C. Byrd & Associates, the course ingeniously combines natural features and landscaping design into a par-72, 18-hole layout measuring 6,825 yards. The fairways meander along the hillsides with waters and bunkers on the way, resulting in clever yet natural challenges. Grassing was undertaken by Dr. Ray Jensen, who has been responsible for turf installation and maintenance for prestigious golf courses around the world. He chose Tifway for the fairways and Tif Dwarf for the greens to make the course lush and green year-round.
Tim Cox Specialty Grading Service was in charge of the landscaping. The work included detailed contouring with expansive water hazards, a stream wandering through the layout, and undulating fairways. The distinctive features and intriguing views near and far are indeed a treat to the eyes. The 14th is among the most unusual holes due to a three-level green slanting from right to left. The par-5 15th features a claw-shaped bunker about 100 yards long in the middle of fairway. The exquisite design makes Chia Nan a highly challenging and exciting course.
