Situated in urban Hualien , the Hualien Golf Club is the only golf course in Hualien County. Established in 1928, it boasts a history of over 80 years. The course was suspended during war time decades ago and not reopened until 1963 when it was renovated. Featuring dense, luxuriant trees, Hualien Golf Club looks like a beautiful forest park from which the golfers can admire the relaxing view of the distant Central Mountain Range. The course is built on a gentle terrain with short fairways, and is suitable for those who want to enjoy a leisurely holiday with some golf.
The 4th is the hardest hole, whose fairway looks spacious but a safe landing is quite difficult due to the big trees in the middle of it. The fairway past the trees narrows a lot with bunkers placed on both sides, ready to devour your ball. Golfers must either deal with a shot obstructed by the big trees or hit a bunker shot. Chances are extremely slim for a safe landing on the green to save par.
