Jianshanpi Reservoir is a famous natural ecological scenic area. The dam was established in 1938 and is conveniently located in Xushan Village, Liuying District, only 12 km away from Xinying District. It was originally reserved for the use of the Xinying Plant of Taiwan Sugar Corporation. However, it was later developed into a scenic resort as its picturesque landscape became known near and far. It is planned to change its name to Liuying Jianshanpi Resort and to establish a modern tourist hotel to boost the tourist industry within the area. The measure of the entire area amounts to more than one hundred ha., including the Jianshanpi water area (approximately 76 ha.) and the land area (27 ha.). Apart from the camping area, three different types of accommodation facilities are available here: Moon Balcony, Jiangnan Garden, and Log Cabin. The resort currently owns two traditional-style decorated vessels for visitors to go sightseeing on the reservoir with tour guides to introduce the history, ecology, and landscape of the area. The fifty-percent train at Wu-Shu-Lin Sugar Factory, Nanjing Recreational Selling Exhibition, and Taiwan Sugar Corporation's orchid farms are some of the spots nearby that are worth visiting.
