Visitors to Puli Township can soon appreciate why Taiwan is known as the "Butterfly Kingdom." There are over 350 species of butterflies and moths here (out of the 400 or so species found across Taiwan). Among the best known types are the broad-tailed swallowtail (Agehana maraho), swift moth (Hepialidae), and Pazala timur chungianus. Visitors can also get a good look at Taiwan's insect world at the Muh Sheng Museum of Entomology, which has over 16,000 insect specimens on display, including a host of brightly colored butterflies.
