This old house is located about six kilometers southeast of the Jiaoxi Railway Station. Wu Sha is famous for pioneering the development of the Yilan area, leading the first settlers there from Fujian Province in mainland China. At first the Kemalan aborigines who occupied the area before the Chinese came resisted and the result was frequent fighting. Then Wu Sha used his medicine to cure the aborigines during a smallpox epidemic; this earned their gratitude and trust, and thereafter they lived with the Chinese in harmony and peace. Wu Sha's old residence has undergone renovation, but traces of the original structure can still be seen here—as can Wu's portrait and ancestral tablet.
