Hsinchu Municipal Government Hall (Hsinchu City Hall) is located in a two-story brick building completed in 1926, during the Japanese colonial period.
The U-shaped building combines a western architectural design with an eastern-style slanted tile roof. The protruding front portico has a double-column design that, along with the two short flanking towers adds to the striking appearance of the building. The front lobby is equally impressive with its western-style arched corridors and Roman columns. The well-planned proportions and symmetry of the architecture further make this one of the most stately government buildings in Hsinchu.
