Su'ao Lighthouse was built in 1927. Perched on a hill behind Beifang'ao in Su'ao Township, Yilan County, the lighthouse overlooks the Lanyang Plain, Guishan Island, and Nanfang'ao. The square white concrete tower is the shortest of its type in Taiwan. It is also a rarity as one of only two square lighthouses in Taiwan, along with Keelung's Qiuzishan Lighthouse.
