Inaugurated in 1901, Baisha Cape Lighthouse is the only brick and stone lighthouse in Taiwan. It was the third lighthouse built by the Japanese in Taiwan and the best preserved lighthouse from the early Japanese occupation period. In 2001, the Council for Cultural Affairs included the lighthouse among Taiwan's top-100 historic buildings. Near the lighthouse is a loop trail, park, pavilion, square, and playground. The trail follows the Guanyin River, with a small bridge, rice fields, and pond to enjoy along the way. The trail also offers a vantage of the famous wind farm at the Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area.
