Shenwei Tiantaishan Monastery is located on Provincial Highway 28. Its expansive grounds cover over 720 acres of land. The main building is divided into three separate halls, the front hall, middle hall, and rear hall. The roof is covered in gold-plated glass tiles, giving it a splendorous impression of a royal palace. Under the sun, the sunlight reflects off of the roof in all directions, producing a beautiful sight. The white jade statue of Buddha inside the temple is made from the biggest piece of white jade in Asia.
The table on which the three statues stand is made of wood from a year old camphor tree. The statues, with their heavy weight, are supported on bases, with the table built around them. The size of the alter is so large that it was once included in the Guinness Book of Records.
Four-faced living Buddha statue:
To the left of the entrance inside the Shenwei Tiantaishan Monastery is Taiwan's first four-faced living Buddha statue. It is 4.95 meters in height and is carved from bluestone. The statue is designed to be lifelike and possesses a calm expression.
