Xinyi is a new business area and the most remarkable shopping district in Taipei. On the fourth and fifth sections of Xinyi Road, one can find many department stores, hotels, and high-end restaurants, such as SKM Xinyi Branch, SKM A9, SKM A4, The Novel Hall, Vieshow Cinema, Grand Hyatt Taipei, and the famous Taipei 101. Xinyi is thus hailed as the most valuable district in Taipei.
The greatest thing about Xinyi Shopping District is that it is entirely designed to meet city dwellers' shopping needs. Since according to the government's plan it is loosely populated, spacious and green, the buildings here are also fairly unique, whether they are department stores or company hubs.
In fact, Xinyi is known as the Manhattan of Taipei. In the day, it is a financial center with a rather busy pace. At night, when the night falls on the financial buildings, Xinyi turns into a dazzling diamond-like place, even more eye-catching than it is in the day. It is a unique experience to observe Xinyi at night. On weekends and holidays, Xinyi serves as a gigantic stage. All sorts of holiday events and open-air fairs are held at the city hall's outdoor plaza and SKM's eastern plaza. In Vieshow's courtyard, singers release their albums, sing songs, and sign for their fans, too, apart from promotional events for new movies.
