Daxi Bridge strides across Dahan River below Zhongzheng Park. It features Dahan River Leftbank Bikeway which is accessible for both cyclists and pedestrians. The bridge's cables are lit with lights at night, making Dahan River more beautiful. The bridge also picks up a Baroque architectural style which resonates with the residences on Daxi Old Street. The bridge even links up Section 1 of Rui'an Road and Daxi Old Street, where weekend visitors may explore local culture and food.

Built in 1934, Daxi Bridge was only made with bamboo sticks and rocks at first. It was however an important gateway to the outside world, and fostered friendship between the residents on both sides. During the Japanese Rule, it was rebuilt as a 280 meter-long steel suspension bridge, which looked like the present bridge. After Wuling Bridge and a second outer ring road were built, Daxi Bridge gradually declined. After two post-typhoon repairs and based on the concept of "overall community building," it was decided that Daxi Bridge would be refurbished again. With effort from the district office and the Directorate General of Highway, in 2001, Daxi Bridge was turned into a 330 meter-long steel and concrete bridge with 13 sturdy pillars. Today, the bridge features a Japanese colonial arch entrance and a decorative dome full of reliefs. These make it look almost like a castle gate. After passing the Baroque gate, one can walk the red-tiled pavements and appreciate the bridge itself. The pale, graceful reliefs on the bridge resonate well with the old houses on Daxi Old Street.

There are even benches on the bridge for people to rest and watch Daxi's beautiful scenery, including Shimen Reservoir and Guanyinshan afar. On the two sides of Daxi Bridge are Wuling Bridge and Kanjin Bridge. While the area feels rather quiet now with just mountain valleys, rocks and bridges in sight, a century ago, it was famous for the magnificent view of "sailboats returning to Kanjin." Still, one can feel caressed by breezes and imagine the past in charming nature. Don't miss the sunset either, which makes Daxi Bridge attractive in a different way. At night, the bridge becomes even more dazzling, exotic and splendid. It is thus hailed as "Lovers' Bridge." Photographers have been drawn to take pictures here. On weekends and holidays, street artists play spinning tops and play music here. Many visitors like to try "lovers' spinning tops" —follow instructions and make your romance go round and round. What a testimony to lasting love.
