At 616 meters above the sea level, Yinghan Hill is the highest peak in the Guanyinshan region. It acquired the name because military trainings used to be held here, and the trainings stressed the “hardneck” spirit (in Chinese, it is pronounced as Yinghan). Today, the hill is known for a forest hiking trail showing a wide range of plants. It provides so much shade that visitors won’t sweat too much even on a hot summer day. The diverse natural surroundings are worth some appreciation.
At the top of the hill, visitors can enjoy a panoramic birds-eye-view of Tamshui River Outlet, Taipei 101, Shin Kong Life Tower, Grand Hotel, Guandu Bridge, and Tamshui and Bali in greater Taipei. The beautiful 18 peaks of Guanyinshan can be appreciated altogether till heart’s content.
