Inspired by the gantry cranes in the harbor area, the Keelung Tower features an elevator built from the ground level to connect to the backyard of the Zhupu Altar on Hope Hill (Zhongzheng Park). It aims to serve as a convenient vertical passage for Keelung citizens and tourists to travel up and down the hill, while also becoming an important scenic spot for viewing mountains, watching the sea, and reading the city.
The vertical passage embodies a concept of soaring straight up. As the elevator ascends, the full panoramic view of Keelung Harbor gradually unfolds. Upon reaching the top, the scenery presents a vast and integrated view of the sky, sea, harbor, and city. Lighting is utilized to enhance the vertical section of the vertical passage body, presenting it with the imagery of a shoreline lighthouse. Additionally, through installation art at the bridgehead of the passage, the main structure is softened, creating a new landmark and a popular check-in hotspot for the city.
