Completed in 1984, the Fangyuan Lighthouse is located at the Wanggong Fishing Harbor in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County. It is an octagonal lighthouse painted with vertical black and white stripes. Not only is it the latest constructed lighthouse among all domestic lighthouses in Taiwan, but due to local land subsidence, it is also the only domestic lighthouse whose tower height is greater than its focal plane (light height), excluding the Taichung Port Lighthouse which utilizes the height of a warehouse. The Fangyuan Lighthouse was primarily established to safeguard the fishing boats along the Changhua coast and the vessels navigating the Taiwan Strait. In the past, visitors here could also appreciate "Wanggong Fishing Lights," which was renowned as one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Changhua.
