The Wulai Log Cart was constructed in 1928 by the "Mitsui Gomei Kaisha" to meet the demands of timber transportation. Following the retrocession of Taiwan, passenger transport operations commenced in 1963 as Wulai Waterfall began welcoming large numbers of visitors, making push-cars operated by manual labor a distinct local feature. In 1974, in response to the continuous growth of tourists, the manual log carts were upgraded to mechanized operations.

Up to the present day, the Wulai Log Cart connects the Wulai Old Street with the Wulai Waterfall commercial district, becoming a tourist and recreational facility possessed of unique forestry cultural history and humanistic characteristics. The total length of the operating route is 1.5 kilometers, with round-trip operations running daily from 09:00 to 17:00, and the operating hours are adjusted in accordance with the peak summer season, departing upon arrival to serve passengers.
