The Wulai Log Cart was constructed in 1928 by the "Mitsui Gomei Kaisha" to meet the demands of timber transportation. Following the retrocession of Taiwan, passenger transport operations commenced in 1963 as Wulai Waterfall began welcoming large numbers of visitors, making push-cars operated by manual labor a distinct local feature. In 1974, in response to the continuous growth of tourists, the manual log carts were upgraded to mechanized operations.
