The most beautiful sea of clouds trail in Taiwan, which was re-completed and opened in 2022, is the "Eryanping Trail" in Alishan. The entrance to the Eryanping Trail is located next to the 52.8K mark of Provincial Highway 18, and it is developed with facilities such as viewing platforms, public restrooms, and walking paths. The trail is approximately 2,165 meters long, with a one-way walking time of about 60 minutes. The trail route path was formed in the early years when mountain residents reclaimed land, passing through the gap between Xiding Mountain and Eryanping Mountain. The trail offers an excellent vantage point with a magnificent presence of sunsets and seas of clouds, making it a secret spot for sightseeing and photography.
Along the route, there are diverse sceneries such as bamboo forests, unique rocks, and tea plantations, and it offers overlooking views of landscapes including the Jianan Plain, Renyitan Reservoir, and Lantan Reservoir. When the weather is clear, one can gaze out at Dongshi and Budai Outer Ports, and look eastward to admire the mountain vistas of the Yushan Mountain Range. During winter, cloud waterfalls and seas of clouds can be seen, and the beautiful sunset scenery attracts many photographers making special trips to take photos.
