Over 300 years ago, Tsou Ma Lai was the residence the aboriginal tribe Pingpu. It has become a tourist attraction because it is surrounded by Zengwen Reservoir, Wushantou Reservoir, Hutoupi (Hutou pond), Nanhua Reservoir, Yushan National Park and Southern Highway.
