Kunqiu is located in the northwest of Juguang Township. The bay mouth features a wide beach and an intertidal zone. During low spring tides, visitors can walk to Snake Island (also known as Sheshan) situated in the open sea. Kunqiu Beach in Xiju, Matsu, is one of only two places in the world where the Cross Sea can be observed. The Cross Sea is a natural phenomenon image that appears when waves converge and overlap under the regularity of ocean currents accompanied by tides. Due to the topographical position of Snake Island, the ocean waves are split into two, which happen to converge perpendicularly at Kunqiu Beach, nurturing and forming the world wonder—the Cross Sea.
Open during low tide in coordination with the tides. Please refer to the website for detailed tide schedules.
