With a population of 20,000 the town of Chenggong is the largest community between Hualien and Taitung cities and is also the location of the largest fish market in this area. Every day between three and four o' clock in the afternoon, to Chenggong harbor after spending the previous day at sea. The day's catch in unloaded, after which and auction takes place.
