Tips for Senior Traveler:

Located in the northwest of Taiwan, the Matsu Islands are rich in history and culture. The Nangan Island is the largest island in Matsu, where you can see buildings of Eastern Fujian style. Through wars and special geography, history and culture, Matsu has many interesting tourist attractions. You could start your one-day accessible travel in Matsu from the "88 Tunnel". It was originally a tunnel of battle preparation for army tanks. To commemorate the 88th birthday of Mr. Chiang Chung-Cheng, it was named the "88 Tunnel". At present, it is used as a storage space for the Matsu Distillery. Before you enter, the strong smell of wine will come to your nose. The "Matsu Distillery" was established in 1956. It became popular for brewing liquor with an ancient technique that brought out the pure taste of liquor. Among them, Dazhu, Gaoliang and Laojiu(old wine) are the most popular brands. If you intend to understand the culture and lifestyle of Matsu, you will gain much from visiting the Matsu Folklore Culture Museum. Inside, there are valuable collections of many cultural objects and photos, as well as various scenes built to simulate living conditions. The Queen of Heaven (Mazu) Temple is devoted to the worship of Mazu, Goddess of the Sea, and is a center of worship in Matsu. Finally, the Jinsha Village preserves its eastern Fujian-style buildings. The cluster of old houses along the stone stairway and the beach glowed golden in the sunset have made Jinsha one of Matsu's foremost tourist attractions.
