Sun Moon Lake Firefly Season
As the season changes from spring to summer, the firefly viewing season is upon us again. Sun Moon Lake's low light pollution and clean ecological environment is very suitable for fireflies to live. The 6 main firefly viewing locations within the Sun Moon Lake area are Taomi, Dalin, Shuishe, Toushe, Tannan and Shuanglong. There are various species such as Aquatica ficta, Luciola cerata, Luciola anceyi, and Species Curtos sauteri Olivier emitting beautiful sparkling lights in the sky. When you visit Sun Moon Lake from April to May, not only will you see beautiful fireflies dancing in the sky at night, you will also be able to join interesting package tours organized by local associations: Fish and Shrimp Ecology Exploration, Snacks DIY, Live Basin Rural Village and Agricultural-ecological Culture Tour, Tribal Village Tour, Bunun Cultural Experience, Firefly Songs & Singing Class, etc. All tours are led by dedicated individuals who will show you Sun Moon Lake's natural ecological and humanistic characteristics. We welcome you to Sun Moon Lake to enjoy firefly viewing, star gazing, ecology exploration and learn what the rural countryside has to offer!
